What a Week!

I'm very pleased to say that I was flooded with lots of good news this week. It's funny how things come in waves. Good and bad. Makes me believe even more in the power of positive and negative energy and our indirect emotional relationship with the universe.

...John Locke would be so proud.

  • "Duende" is on the radio! I got an email from KYRS 92.3FM - 89.9FM in Spokane, WA informing me that they are planning on airing the album starting this Sunday. You can listen in at http://www.kyrs.org/.

I was also really disapointed in myself to learn that during an interview with UMTV, I informed the viewers of the news and pronounced Spokane as "Spo-Cane." I was planning on getting out there for a show but I guess that offer's off the table now, huh?

  • We won the UMTV Musical Expressions competition, resulting in a free music video. Filming starts next week.

  • I got a call on Monday informing me that out of 4oo applicants, we had been selected as one of six bands to perform in the Florida Grammy Showcase this May (13th) at The Social in Orlando during the Florida Music Festival. Hot damn!

  • After being nominated by the distinguished duo, Notorious Nastie and REVMiami.com's Ric Delgado, we were selected by Hard Rock Cafe as one of 8 bands in the state of Florida to compete in the "Ambassadors of Rock" battle of the bands.

The top prize is the opportunity to play with Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and the Killers in London. Which would be.....kinda cool, I guess.

The semi-finals are on the 23rd at Hard Rock-Hollywood.

    AND...........!!!

  • I'm going to take a day off this week and go to the beach and not even think about music or marketing or networking or anything except how red my face is getting and how cold my beer is staying.

    Wanna come?

Hey, Don't I Know You?

Welcome!

So here we are...in a blog.

You know, I had to double check if the title of this blog was grammatically correct (What!? I appreciate a good comma every now and then!) Turns out, “between you and I” is incorrect because the word "I" is a subject pronoun and "me" is an object pronoun and...wait...hello? Am I losing you?

Alright, I get it. But if you’re feeling especially studious, you can read more about that here.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, hi! I'm Tristan Clopet. And if you're reading this, you know that I'm a musician in Miami. But what you might not know is that I'm addicted to crossword puzzles and movies, I hate bad manners and snakes and I'm intrigued by dinosaurs and space.

This blog was created as an outpost to speak freely about things related and unrelated to what's going on in my life.

And so it begins...

Here are just a few background things that might make the next few hundred posts seem more relevant:

I was born in Toronto and lived in Raleigh and New York before Miami

I put school on hold at the Univ. of Miami just two semesters away from graduation (Best decision I've ever made)

My father is Ringo Starr

The most mispelled word in my typing vocabulary is "definately." Gets me every time.

Ok. I think this has been a really successful visit. I feel like we've all made some personal progress today. Let's all give ourselves a warm pat on the back. More to come...

:D
